The club was founded in 1975 as an organization for Ford Model A restorers, but the club swiftly embraced an interest in antique automobiles of all sorts. In February 1997 the club became a chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America. The first meeting was held 18 March 1975. The club's charter members were:
